Brought to you by HeavenGames.com.

Big Huge Games held a Rise of Nations tournament on both Thursday and Friday.  Four contestants were picked by random each day for a short one vs one tournament.  The winner got a gift certificate for micrsofot products and the chance to play Brian Reynolds at his own game.   Angel Draco got chosen the first day and he beat his first oppenent but lost in the finals.  Thunder was chosen on Friday and he won the tournament and was able to defeat Brian at his own game!  As you might expect, we got a lot of great information on Rise of Nations which we will be combing through over the next few days and will be bringing you a lot more information on this excellent upcoming game from Microsoft and Big Huge Games.

On the left, Tim Train from Big Huge Games and Danan Davis from Microsoft watching the Tournament.  In the center, Angel Draco posing next to Thursday's tournament board.  Draco played in Thursday's tournament and won in the first round but lost in the finals to Zuik.  On the right, Kristine Ishii, aka "Nanogirl" (in gray), who now works for Big Huge Games.  She was one of the world's best Starcraft players when she was hired at the age of 21 by Big Huge Games to do multiplayer balancing for Rise of Nations.

Some screenshots from Thursday's tournament action.  Brian Reyolds (red) is playing as "Hot Sauce Boy" against Zuik (blue).  In these four screenshots, you'll see Brian advancing through some of the ages.  There are eight ages in Rise of Nations.   You'll also notice on the mini-map that the area controlled by each player is highlighted in that player's color.  Look for lots more Rise of Nations information to come.

These four screenshots show the endgame of Brian playing Zuik.  The first screen shows Brian taking out a tower with an ICBM.  The second screenshot shows Brian capturing a city and gaining some resources in the process.  The third screenshot shows Brian preparing some missle silos from which ultimate destruction will rain down on Zuik.   The final screen shows the results of Brian's nuclear missle, signaling doom for Zuik.
