from left to right, the Lord of the Rings Hobbit Hole where an awesome 360 degree preview
movie for the new Hobbit game was being shown that Thunder, Draco and I checked out.
The movie was awesome and it made me wish that we could actually play games in a
360 degree surrounding. It's totally immersing and very kewl. The second two
pics show the Medieval Total War setup. Neither Draco nor myself got a chance to
play the game but it looked pretty kewl.
The left pic
shows a huge No One Lives Forever 2 poster. Draco played NOLF2 for a little while
and really enjoyed it. It has a good combination of stealth and action. I'm
not surprised since I was a big fan of the original NOLF and I'm definitely looking
forward to the sequel. The second image shows the Praetorians setup. Draco and
I both played Praetorians and neither of us were impressed at all. Praetorians has
eliminated the economics of real time strategy leaving only fixed force battles.
We've been able to play fixed force battles since the original Age of Empires and to me,
there just wasn't enough unique or special about Praetorians to make it worth while.
The last two pics show Roller Coaster Tycoon 2. I wanted to be excited about RCT2
since I was seriously addicted to the original RCT but from what I could tell from the
show, there wasn't all that much different about RCT2. Sure they increased the
screen resolution, enhanced the animations and incorportated a Six Flags license but
otherwise, the basic gameplay has remained the same. In some senses, that's good
since the gameplay of the original was almost perfect, but in another sense, I was
expecting a little more.
Here's some
images of the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic setup. BioWare is developing
this highly anticipated RPG. Unfortunately at the show, the game was only 40%
complete and it really didn't give any kind of feel for what the final gameplay will be
like.
